Lyrics

Your velvet eyes – deeper than the starry skies – I wonder if they see – what being near you does to me.  Do they know the way I feel?  Can they see my love is real?  Will they ever look in mine and see . . . ?

That your velvet eyes inspire me – excite and light a fire in me – and within their view is where I long to be.  For within your sight means close to you.  And be away from you I never wanna do.  So let me rest here, watching the sunrise - reflected in your eyes.

Your velvet eyes – brighter than the sunny skies – don’t tell me if you know the way you set my heart a-glow.  They don’t tell the secret of if you see and feel my love.  They’re not revealing if your heart can see . . .

That your velvet eyes inspire me – excite and light a fire in me – and within their view is where I always long to be.  For within your sight means close to you.  And be away from you I never wanna do.  So just let me rest here, watching the sunrise - in your velvet eyes . . .

Your velvet eyes.  Your velvet eyes.

Lyrics

I squirm in the glow of these dashboard lights and I wonder what my life so far would’ve been without you there.

Being so far from our home and alone puts me under the uneasy spell of reflection, as down this lane I stare.

Time I have to spend away from you is a teacher – gently reminding me that “two shall be as one”.

In the mirror, now fading from my view, glow the last town’s features . . .  And this lonely moonlit highway rolls on and on.  This lonely moonlit highway rolls on and on.

Where, oh where, have the years flown?  By now, you’d think that I could stay at home – and be at ease to spend all my nights and days wrapped in your world, living our fantasies – but life, I’ve learned, has other twists and turns, for you and me.

I squint in the glow of that blinding sunrise in that Eastern sky, and know my life back home with you, I’m still anchored by.

Being so far from our home and alone can never make me stray from the vows we made – before God – back on our wedding day.

Time I have to spend a way from you is a teacher – gently reminding me “for better or for worse”.

In the mirror, now I don’t see a preacher, just a simple man who takes all of life’s ups and downs as a blessing – not as a curse, as this crowded sun-baked highway rolls on and on.

Where, oh where, have the years flown?  By now, you’d think that I could stay at home – and be retired to spend all my nights and days wrapped in your world, living our fantasies – but life, it seems, has other plans and schemes, for you and me.

Oh yes, life, we’ve learned, has other twists and turns, for you and me.

Lyrics

Under a starry night sky, this lonely heart longs to look in her eyes.
And as I let my mind go back to the truest friend I’ll ever know,
I pray for long she won’t leave me alone, and then she’ll find her way safely back home.  'Til then I can't make a start to fill this empty place in my heart.

Under a full moon lit sky, this longing heart thinks of him with a sigh.  And as I let my heart go back to the sweetest man I’ll ever know, "Oh, God, please let him know he’s not alone - He’s in my heart and I’ll be coming home" - never again to be apart - we'll fill this empty place in our hearts.

It hurts when “goodbye” must be said, as life’s uneven road sometimes we tread.  But in those heavens above are angels watching over those that we love.  So we believe, in Heaven’s wonderful plan, on this Earth we’ll be together again.  ‘Til then I longingly wait for that day when, in your arms, all the pain melts away.

Lyrics

How do you say “I’m sorry” to a friend whose smile you’ll cherish your whole life through?

How do you take away the hurt and the pain, and restore their trusting in you again?

I wish I could turn back the hands of time, knowing what I know now, yet could not see then.

But time won’t run backward; so the question is mine . . . how do you say “I’m sorry, friend”?

How do you say “I never wanted to ever bring you down or make your heart blue”?

Or bring you doubts of my sincerity, in the friendship bond between you and me?

I wish I could turn back the hands of time, knowing what I know now, yet could not see then.

But time won’t run backward; so the question is mine . . . how do you say “I’m sorry, friend”?

Oh, please help me turn back those hands of time, knowing what I know now, yet could not see then.

But time can’t turn backward, so the thing on my mind is how do I say “I’m sorry, friend”.

Time can’t turn backward, and what weighs on my mind is how do I say to you,  “I’m sorry, my friend”?

Lyrics

I can hear the sound of rain fallin’ down.  It’s not the gentle sound that patters on the ground.

For it’s the stinging rain of all your hurt and pain.  And it’s a storm of hail with a wind that wails.

The storm within your eyes makes me realize you’re bound to lose all hope without a boat –

A ship to carry you through the flood you can’t undo, of life’s relentless gales and stormy seas.

Your vessel back to safe harbor is me.

Now I can hear a sound – it echoes all around.  Such a gentle word is very seldom heard.

There’s a peaceful calm that says the storm’s all gone.  And in those tender eyes I see a good day rise.

But the storm within your eyes, how it made me realize you were bound to lose all hope without a boat –

A ship to carry you through the flood you could not undo, of life’s relentless gales and stormy seas.

Your vessel back to safe harbor was me.

The storm within your eyes, made me realize you were bound to lose all hope without a boat –

A ship to carry you through the flood you could not undo, of life’s relentless gales and stormy seas.

Your vessel back to safe harbor . . .  your vessel back to safe harbor . . .  your vessel back to safe harbor was me.

Lyrics

Our lives are just a winding river.  And where they’re bound for we cannot say.

For only God knows just when and wither the stream of life will turn and guide our way.

The winding of these currents rolls on forever.  Every life is just one ripple, for a time.

Events and names and places we can never understand until unfolds the plan Divine.

And even if it was for us to know the meaning of all things as they occur,

We still may not know how the plan is meant to unfold until, by faith, we let the river turn.

As the winding river of our life still onward churns.

The meaning of this life grows clearer with every bend and turn the river takes.

And when we realize the bountiful giver of life holds all the keys to knowledge of our fate,

Do we learn the lesson that the river teaches – how to trust, believe, keep patient, and to wait?

Or go on striving to assemble pieces, ever blinded to the puzzle ‘til too late?

For even if it was for us to know the meaning of all things as they occur,

We still may not know how the plan is meant to unfold until, by faith, we let the river turn.

The winding river of our life is how we learn.

Our lives are just a winding river.  And where we're bound for we cannot say.

For only God knows just when and wither the stream of life will turn and guide our way.

Lyrics

A heart don’t know, it just don’t know, when it ain’t supposed to love someone.

It can’t move slow – it’s just gonna go right straight ahead ‘til the fallin’s done.

And when it does the thing that just comes naturally, sometimes it makes you sing in agony.

Whenever hearts aren’t free and, yet, they just can’t see, it’s the toughest time that life can bring.

Yes I understand the story well – how a carefree heart can make your life a living Hell.

You never can be free – or even wanna be.  There’s no escaping from what you’re born with from the start.

You never can be free from the curse of a carefree heart.

And when it does the thing that just comes naturally, sometimes it makes you sing in agony.

Whenever hearts aren’t free, yet, they just refuse to see, that’s the toughest time that life can bring.

Yes I understand this story well – for my carefree heart turned my life to a living Hell.

You never can be free – you never even wanna be.  There’s no escaping from what you’re born with from the start.

You never can be free from the curse of a carefree heart.  I never will be free from the curse of this carefree heart.  No, you never can escape from the curse . . . of a carefree heart.

Lyrics

He pushed his mike up close in front of the hardened woman’s face, and asked about how freedom felt after twenty years at State.  Then he followed up with a question on every single mind in the room – “Can you tell us, now, why you killed the man for which that judge sentenced you?”

“ ‘Cause twenty years ago at the trial you wouldn’t tell the court one thing, like when Jesus stood there silent before that king.  Now that your debt’s been paid and you’re a woman free and strong, can you tell us, now, just what happened that made everything turn out so wrong?”

And she said…

You don’t know what you think you know about where I’ve been.  If you could feel the pain that’s written my life story, it would break your heart, my friend.  So pardon me if I decline to answer what you’ve asked so clear.  I won’t bring us both to tears by telling things no ears should ever have to hear.

Then she added…

The pain and anguish in my body and in my soul, that I endured so many years, might never have made me go so far into the darkness of despair and hopelessness, though, even now, I am unable to describe it to you, I must confess.

But when I caught him with my little angel, the sunshine of my world – and the innocence was stolen from that dear sweet baby girl – I pray to God you would’ve saved her just the same way I did then.  And, in a heartbeat, yes, the answer is “I’d do it all again”.

No, you don’t know what you think you know about where I’ve been. If you could feel the pain that’s written my life story, it would break your heart, my friend.  So pardon me if I decline to answer what you’ve asked so clear.  I won’t bring us both to tears by telling things no ears should ever have to hear.

You don’t know what you think you know about where I’ve been.  And if you knew the pain that’s written my life story, it would tear out your heart, my friend.  So pardon me if I decline to answer what you’ve asked so clear.  I won’t bring us both to tears by telling things no ears should ever have to hear.

I won’t bring them all to tears by repeating things no ears should ever have to hear.

You don’t know what you think you know about . . .  where   I’ve     been.

Lyrics

What is this thing that keeps my spirit warm whenever life has turned so cold?

The gentle force that keeps me ever young, when life’s rough road would leave me old?

And gives tomorrow hope when despair sets in today?  And turns my every frown back to a smile?

It brightens every dark and dreary place along my way – The only thing that never fails to make me feel alive.

It’s your love – that soul that overflows with sweet and tender care for all of God’s creation, everywhere and every way – for beauty and for nature, spreading sunshine everywhere – and for me, in your warm and selfless heart, is what I pray.

It’s in the voice of pure sincerity, as you comfort one who’s lost a friend.

And in the way you speak from your heart to God, “please heal their hurt and let their broken heart mend”.

I can see it in your eyes for those you’re meeting day by day – reflection of God’s own loving light.

It brightens every dark and dreary place along their way – the only thing that never fails to make me feel alive.

It’s your love – that soul that overflows with sweet and tender care for all of God’s creation, everywhere and every way – for beauty and for nature, spreading sunshine everywhere – and for me, in your sweet and selfless heart, is what I pray.  Yes, love for me, in your kind & selfless heart, is what I pray.

Lyrics

Lookin’ back to that summer day, when we sat and talked beside of my driveway,

In the shady breeze under rustling leaves, and I played you songs that turned out all wrong,

There was heartbreak on the summer wind that day.

Even though my heart was about to melt, from the white-hot flame that for you I felt,

Trouble lurked behind those distant eyes; your unsteady words made me realize

There was heartbreak on the summer wind that day.

My world would soon be shattered and a heart all torn and tattered lay ahead for me.

I heard it in your voice and saw it in your eyes, under the maple tree.

Now, every day, the neighbors all see me sitting on a bench beneath that tree,

Head bowed to pray to the Lord above, asking Him to bring you back to me - under that tree.

Now that tree and me, we pray every day that your heart will bring you back this way.

Neither one of us was prepared to face all the loneliness and the empty space,

When there was heartbreak on the summer wind that day.

When our whole world was shattered and our hearts were torn and tattered because you went away.

We heard it in your voice and saw it in your eyes, me and the maple tree.

Now, every day, the neighbors all see me kneeling on the grass beneath that tree,

Our heads bowed to pray to the Lord above, asking Him to bring you back to me - me and that tree.

Every day, the neighbors all see me sitting on a bench beneath that tree,

Our heads bowed to pray to the Lord above, begging Him to bring you back to me – me and that tree.

Lyrics

My Country, ‘tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing...

Some didn’t have the time – and had too much to do – to get caught up in any revolution.

Some didn’t have the strength – had way too much to lose – should their mission fail and lead to retribution.

But they still gave all they had to see a nation born – a land in freedom clad – on Earth, a clear new morn.

When liberty and justice reigned on Earthly sod, and every precious human right was seen by all to be ordained by nature’s God.

Some didn’t have the wealth – had just too little means – to contribute to the righteous insurrection.

But within their souls they knew, when the bell of freedom rings, we can conquer all and turn the world in a new direction.

So they still gave all they had to see a nation born – a land in freedom clad – on Earth, a bright new morn.

When liberty and justice reigned on Earthly sod, and every precious human right was known by all to be ordained by nature’s God.

Today we live in times when true faith is under siege, and common sense and simple decency have both given way to what’s PC.

We let the racial whores and poverty pimps rake in millions – based on mythology – as they forever stoke the fires of envy and strife among folks that once were free.

The ruling class elite, and their self-appointed propaganda ministry, abolish our founding documents, without a single vote from you and me.

The time has come, in this great land – its plain for all to see – to take our country back and, once again, set the captives free!!

So do we give it all we have to see our nation saved, and make the sacrifice – do we for freedom yearn?

Do we defeat the force of destruction setting us aflame?  Or do we just sit idly by in a comfort zone, apathetically, while America burns?

Do we extinguish the evil torch setting fire to the USA?  Or do we just stay on the sideline as they destroy our home - in our apathy - and watch it burn?
