LYRICS

Some time ago I left my home down in the heart of Dixie. I felt a longing to be
Westward bound. But, though I love to travel and see all the land’s great beauty, Montgomery always will be my hometown.

Montgomery, Alabama always will remain my home, no matter where my restless feet may roam. Not all the gold in California nor the sunny Kansas plain can outshine Montgomery, Alabama, even in the rain.

So many other places boast of glory and renown far greater than Montgomery, Alabam. But they don’t have the lady who lives in that southern town, who makes me feel the way no other can.

Montgomery, Alabama will be seeing me again, for I’m returning there soon as I
can. And in her heart for me I know there burns an everlasting flame – makes me glad to see Montgomery even in this pouring rain.

In just a little while, back in Montgomery I will be - her city lights are now within my sight. And though it’s such a windy, rainy Alabama night, sunshine and bright blue skies are all I see.

Montgomery, Alabama always will remain my home, no matter where my restless feet may roam. Not all the gold in California nor the sunny Kansas plain can outshine Montgomery, Alabama, even in the rain.

Montgomery, Alabama will be seeing me again, for I’m returning there soon as I
can. In that girl’s heart for me I know there burns an everlasting flame – makes me glad to see Montgomery even in this pouring rain . . . Montgomery in the rain . . . in the rain.
